In the period of the Revival of the New Epoch of Powerful State, under the leadership of our Esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, stable coordination of the achievements of science and technology with the economy, comprehensive operation of all the available opportunities of the society and, based on this, to transform Turkmenistan into an innovative state, to create a modern high-tech industry, and to produce competitive finished products is the principal strategic priorities of the state. High-level economists, who are trained at the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management, play an important role in realizing this goal.

The institute was established on January 31, 1980 under the name Turkmen People's Economic Institute on the foundation of Turkmen State University.

On April 14, 2008, the President of Turkmenistan changed the name of the Turkmen Institute of People's Economy in order to create a unified system of training and professional development of high-level specialists who will greatly contribute to the development of market relations in the economy, as well as to ensure the active integration of the country into the world economic community. , signed the Decision to call it the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management. On September 28, 2011, our Arkadag came and opened a wonderful economic campus, which meets world standards and equipped with the most advanced equipment.

The classrooms of the new building are designed to meet international standards and equipped with interactive whiteboards and computers. The institute has a total of 24 computer classrooms and 8 language classrooms. All classrooms for 120, 84, 60 and 40 people are equipped with interactive whiteboards, and distance learning is also organized in them. Teachers and students have full access to fiber-optic, high-speed Internet. Computers at the institute were connected via a network and electronic document circulation was established. This includes internal and external document circulation. In addition, an electronic library system was created, which creates favorable conditions for meeting the information supply of teachers and students and saving their time.

The complex of buildings of the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management has 2 dormitories, which are equipped with all amenities.

At the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management, training of specialists is currently carried out in the faculties of Economics, Finance, Management and Marketing, as well as the Faculty of Professional Development, where specialists of ministries, departments, banking system and various enterprises undergo additional training. The Institute has graduate departments such as Accounting and Auditing, Statistics, Economics and Law, Economic Theory, Finance, Banking, Digital Economy, Management, Information Systems, Global Economy, Marketing, Labor Economics. In addition, there are departments in the faculties of Social Studies, Foreign Languages, Advanced Mathematics and Informatics, and Physical Education.

Educational buildings have computers, classrooms equipped with projectors, and computer rooms connected to the Internet. There are also several specialized classrooms in the academic buildings.

The institute has a gymnasium and sports grounds to provide physical education to the students. Student athletes of our institute successfully participate in international competitions among students of higher education institutions and win prizes.

The music and dance group "Hazyna", the winner of the award of the youth organization named after Magtymguly of Turkmenistan, operating at the institute, regularly performs at festive events, state concerts, TV and radio broadcasts and deserves the love of the people.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION

In the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State under the leadership of our Hero Arkadag and Hero Arkadagly Serdar, changes are taking place in all spheres of our life. Achievements in the country's education system, as well as international cooperation in this field, have today reached an exemplary level. A vivid example of this is the seminar “Teaching Chinese for Chinese Language Teachers in Central Asian Countries,” held in November this year, during the year “Ocean of Wisdom of Magtymguly Pyragy” The seminar was organized by the Institute of Chinese Language and Culture of the People's Republic of China.

Four Chinese language teachers are currently on assignment trip to the People's Republic of China. The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Turkmenistan, and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. One representative from each higher educational institution of Turkmenistan participated in the seminar, including the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management. The seminar was attended by Maya Mukhammedova, a teacher at the Department of Foreign Languages at the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management.

During the seminar, our colleagues attended very interesting lessons from leading Chinese language professors on topics such as “General Characteristics of the People's Republic of China” by Professor Yang Xian, “Phonetic Studies of the Chinese Language” by the head of the Chinese Language Department, Professor Wang Tuba, and “Phonetic Studies of the Chinese Language” by Associate Professor Shen Xuyang. Turkmen teachers gained valuable experience by participating in a number of workshops, including “Creating Interest in Learning the Chinese Language,” “Teaching Lexicology of the Chinese Language” by Professor Zhou Shipi, “Chinese Mythology and Folklore” by Associate Professor Dan Weiliu, and “Teaching Chinese Culture” by Professor Liao Chunyan.

Chinese language teachers from Turkmenistan were able to familiarize themselves with the academic, scientific, cultural, and living conditions at the Institute of Chinese Language and Culture, the beauty of the place, its museums, the Great Wall of China, and Chinese traditions.

In general, this visit will be of great importance for improving the training of Turkmen students in the Chinese language.

Taking this opportunity, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our Hero Arkadag and Hero Arkadagly Serdar for creating opportunities for the professional development of our teachers.

IV International Olympiad on Financial Security

The students of the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management demonstrated remarkable proficiency at the IV International Olympiad on Financial Security, held in Sochi from 30 September to 4 October 2024 by the Federal Financial Monitoring Service of the Russian Federation. Their performance was met with commendation, and they achieved noteworthy outcomes.

- Berdiyeva Jennet, a third-year student enrolled in the Bachelor of Accounting and Audit programme, was awarded a first-degree diploma in Economics;

- Arslan Shaimov, a third-year student enrolled in the Bachelor of Management programme, was awarded a second-degree diploma in International Relations.

The International Olympiad on Financial Security is being held

The Olympiads held at the international level in the year of " The Fount of Wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi" testify that the Turkmen youth are getting a high level of education. A total of 10 students from higher educational institutions of the country will participate in the International Olympiad on Financial Security, which will be held on September 30, 2024 in the city of Sochi, Russian Federation. The competition is represented by Kakabay Nurgeldiyev, Nurmuhammet Tajimyradov from the Magtymguly State University named after Magtymguly, Shabibi Beshimova, Kyyas Ilmyradov from the International University for Humanities and Development, Mehri Gubajayeva, Arslan Shaimov, Jennet Berdiyeva from the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management,  Enejan Garajaeva and Aysenem Nuryev from the Turkmen State Institute of Finance. They also showed high results in the qualifying round of this Olympiad. The main goal of this competition is to introduce international practices into the economy, further expand international cooperation, and increase the financial literacy of the younger generation. At the international Olympiad on financial security, students representing our country compete in tasks related to economics, finance and credit, economic security, international relations, law, and informatics.

Students express their gratitude to thethe National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and Hero Arkadagly Serdar for all the conditions created to participate in international competitions.

Online seminar on the topic «Strategies for HEIs: Achieving Excellence in QS and International Rankings / Unlocking Success: Implementing QS and THE Rankings»

Lecturers of the Department of Digital Economy of the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management Narly Babanazarov and Arslan Matkarimov took part in an online seminar on the issue of «Improving the positions of higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan in the rankings of international universities», which was held on September 19-20, 2024.

The online seminar was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Agency Erasmus+ and the Tashkent State University of the Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Novaya.

The online seminar was held on the topic «Strategies for Higher Education Institutions: Achieving High Results in QS and International Rankings / Unlocking Success: Implementation of QS and THE Ratings», and its main goal was to present practical strategies for attracting higher educations of Uzbekistan in accordance with international standards.

Representatives of the higher education system spoke at the opening of the seminar. Among them were Shokhrukh Daliyev, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Aziza Abdurakhmanova, Director of the National Erasmus+ Office in Uzbekistan. Diyor Umarov, Head of the International Cooperation and Rankings Department, was present. In their speech, they noted that the seminar is aimed at improving the academic effectiveness and international reputation of universities in Uzbekistan.

One of the highlights of the online seminar was the speech of a well-known expert in the field of higher education, Professor Ellen Hazelkorn. As a consultant to BH Associates, an Honorary Professor at the University of Dublin and a member of the Higher Education Council of the European Union for Smart Specialization (HESS), Professor Ellen Hazelkorn shared her deep knowledge and experience in the specifics of international university rankings. In her speech, the audience was informed about the significance of these rankings and the key criteria for success in international education. In practice, Professor Ellen Hazelkorn explained in detail the methodology and indicators of the main ranking systems, such as QS, THE and ARWU, as well as how these rankings can be strategically used to improve the quality and effectiveness of higher education institutions in Uzbekistan.

Also, during the online seminar, representatives of higher education institutions of Uzbekistan that have already achieved a certain level in international rankings spoke and shared their experiences.

The online consultation was conducted within the framework of the European Union’s Technical Assistance Missions (TAM), which are designed to support Higher Education Reform Experts (HERE). TAM uses a variety of formats (national workshops, conferences and focus groups) to provide the tools and strategies needed to improve higher education systems.
